Paediatric Dermatology
Paediatric Dermatology consultants are specialist consultants for children with dermatological (skin) problems providing the following services for children and infants:
- Surgical/medical treatment for conditions such as warts and other lesions of skin
- Diagnosis and treatment of conditions of skin, hair and scalp
- Genetic skin diseases which are rare but important to be recognised will be seen and investigated
- Prescriptions for treatment of skin conditions
Benefits
Treatment differs considerably in children compared to adults even though dealing with the same complaint. By consulting with a nationally recognised dermatology paediatrician, the infant can benefit greatly from the specialist advice and knowledge given at this point.
The treatment given is specially adapted to suit a child’s or adolescent’s skin and medication/dosage, is sometimes measured on the child’s weight.
