Molluscum Contagiosum is a very common condition amongst children, most children get one or two lesions which drop off within a very short period of time however some children especially who are more prone to eczema do get multiple lesions which last for a very long time. These lesions can become itchy and painful when treatments are considered. Treatments range from Potassium Hydroxide applications to more advanced treatments such as cryotherapy, cantharidin topical therapy and systemic treatments such as acid tretinoin therapy. Nutritional supplementation with Zinc and vitamin D is vital to improve the general immune tolerance following these infections in children.
